Three key ways ChatGPT drives innovation for ScaleHub solutions

It’s hard to ignore the influence artificial intelligence (AI) has on the working world. And it’s even harder to believe that ChatGPT was made publicly available only one year ago. Its abilities and accessibility have already changed the game, and we’re just at the tip of the iceberg.

Within just three months, ChatGPT had amassed over 100 million users; it receives an average of a billion page visits every month, and it is expected to generate a revenue of $1 billion by the end of next year. Remarkably prolific for a one-year-old entity. However, make no mistake: this technology is evolving rapidly.

Last March, I presented on AI’s impact on the claims management process at the InsurTech NY event, and fielded a number of questions about ChatGPT and its impact not only on insurance but on the way tech companies develop their solutions. ScaleHub is leveraging ChatGPT in a variety of responsible ways, and it’s helping us drive innovation forward—quickly. There are three key areas where generative AI enables us to push boundaries while remaining mindfully focused on security.

1. Creating synthetic data sets for effective training

Accuracy across the board is pivotal to us and the value we bring to customers. And it all starts with training. At ScaleHub, we leverage ChatGPT by generating synthetic data sets that closely mimic real-world scenarios. These synthetic data sets can be used to train crowd contributors, as well as an AI, enabling either to recognize and accurately extract relevant information from actual data sources.

It’s often difficult to find, and time consuming to create, anonymized documents for use in crowd contributor or AI training. ChatGPT, however, can quickly create large volumes of realistic-yet-fake documents that can be used to train the identification and extraction of specific data points or document classifications. The more data is available for training, the better the overall output and results. This approach ensures that we maintain high accuracy percentages (>99%) while training our AI as well as crowd contributors to utilize the solution effectively.

2. Assisting developers with coding

Aside from making the creation of training data quicker and easier, ChatGPT gives programmers a boost. ChatGPT’s capabilities extend beyond natural language understanding to include generating code in multiple programming languages (Ruby, Python, etc).

ScaleHub’s developers find it a particularly valuable resource, as it provides prompts and generates code snippets in various programming languages. We can use this feature to efficiently address coding challenges, not to mention streamline the different coding languages used within the company.

However, it’s important to note that though the availability of this tool streamlines the development process and enhances productivity, ScaleHub is not using ChatGPT to share code due to our strict commitment to security.

3. Enhancing user-friendly reporting

If we can use prompts to get answers, then why not use them to get the data you need? Nowhere is data more helpful than in analytics. ScaleHub is working to integrate ChatGPT into our reporting tools to make it easier for users to generate reports. This means that both internal users and customers can create reports using simple prompts, without needing to know the specific report structures or names.

For instance, by using the right prompt, a manager could easily request a report on employees who were to contribute documents to the solution, but didn’t do so >5% of the time. By incorporating ChatGPT’s capabilities, we’re going to simplify the report generation process and empower users to obtain accurate and customized insights with ease.

Considering risks and ethical implications

You cannot erase a risk. You can only manage it. We love what new technology can do for our company and our clients, but that doesn’t mean we’re any less vigilant about the security and ethical considerations that come with using it. As these tools become increasingly prevalent, companies must use them responsibly and maintain a proactive stance on security concerns.

At ScaleHub, we are committed to upholding ethical standards with our ChatGPT usage, ensuring that privacy, data protection, and security remain paramount even as they propel our company and keep us at the forefront of innovation. And as we actively address these implications, we set a strong example for responsible implementation of generative AI technologies.

Tech as a change agent, not an authority

I don’t see AI making human involvement obsolete. Instead, we should focus on how these things work in tandem. Yes, technology can complete some tasks more efficiently, but I don’t see this technology replacing human creativity. If you go to ChatGPT and ask it to create something that everyone likes, with all the features, it’ll go to what already exists as a success and instruct you to do what’s already been done. I think that humans will always be needed in order to train these systems to be more creative, because when it comes to creativity, that is something beautiful only humans have.

As businesses embrace generative AI tools, our team remains conscious of the risks and prioritizes responsible usage. With our collective intelligence technology—utilizing the best combination of AI and human intelligence—we look to ChatGPT as a tool to drive innovation and efficiency internally as well as augment our customer’s experience.
