We kicked off 2020 with much excitement, in large part because Torsten Malchow joined ScaleHub as our Chief Revenue Officer as of the first of the year. Torsten brings to our team over 20 years of international sales experience targeting global enterprises, business process outsourcers (BPOs) and shared services centers (SSCs) in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. Managing global sales and pre-sales organizations in the process automation world—first as CSO and later as Global SVP—Torsten consistently achieved and often exceeded sales quotas.
At ScaleHub, Torsten will drive marketing and sales efforts. “ScaleHub has obviously sold some projects,“ said Torsten, ”but there wasn’t anyone focused just on doing sales. I recognized that ScaleHub’s solutions were ready to go to market and that the only missing piece was sales power and visibility.”
Add to that the great potential of the $10bn crowdsourcing market, which has a CAGR between 36-57%, and a company culture driven by customer satisfaction and long-term relationships, and Torsten recognized an undeniable opportunity.
Torsten is excited to tap into his vast experience selling into BPOs and SSCs. Here at ScaleHub, that will mean marketing and selling both the AI-based document capture for which we’re known, as well as capture for computer vision applications, a relatively new offering for us. “More and more we’re seeing BPOs expand their use of capture beyond operational data,” said Torsten. “One example is training for AI applications. ScaleHub’s combination of crowdsourcing and AI-based capture is ideal for quickly and accurately labelling the mass of images needed to to train computer vision and NLP type technologies.”
Though originally from Germany, Torsten and his wife currently live on Sanibel Island in Florida. Their two sons, now adults, live in Germany and Australia, respectively. His life hack: “Always hire colleagues that are smarter than yourself and fun to work with. Life is too short to be in an unhealthy and political environment.”
